Socks and more socks

paradox Socks, photo ©EFN
These past few days have been sock-filled. First came the easy ribbed socks that I have published in Italian only on Maglia-Uncinetto.it, a supereasy pattern that I do not aim to translate. Then came the Paradox Socks, for the moment being only in English (but I will translate them a little later on to Italian) that went on sale as a part of the European Fiber Network KALendar. Hope you like them!

Cuff anklets

This is brioche honeycomb in the round. On Lorna's Laces Sock yarn. Cool, eh.

Senape one!

IMAG0499.jpgThe first of the senape socks is done. I am quite satisfied with it: I almost grafted it right (only the first two sttiches are badly done) and I like the very reinforced heel. Although they are very lacy, the slightly thicker than usual yarn makes for very warm and sturdy socks, while the lace reaching the toe and constituting all of the tall cuff makes them look quite dainty. Also the lace is nice, it would have been hell if knitted back and forth, but in the round it was really easy-peasy.
Now, I am supposed to start working on the second Pulque sock. Point is... Where did I put the pattern? +_+

Never, never, never

Never start working on a toe first thing in the morning. Toes take more time than you'd expect. Dammit!

Socking again

Seems like I am back in the sock mood. I knitted a sock to prepare a class, then I completed a pair of socks (they took me ages, the most boring pair I ever knitted!) then I knitted the first of a new pair and new design and then I strarted the first of another new pair-new design. The Black Death Socks will likely not go anywhere because they were so boring to make that I would not invite anyone to the same deadly attempt. But it seems that the Pulque and the spicier Senape may turn out interesting. Besides, they are done in the same yarn and therefore may be a nice couple to include in a series. Maybe I should plan two more socks to go with them: something really very plain (think of ribs on the leg and boring stockinette) and something with cables, all in the same yarn. Uhm... May be interesting! Meanwhile, I will have to finish the first Senape, then work the second Pulque and revies the pattern (and have it tested!).

A sock fever

Easy stockinette socks
Seems I can't stop knitting socks. The plain sticknette pair is done and I decided to exhume an old pair that I never got to finish. The Black Death socks (so called because kniting socks in black wasn't probabily the rightest idea) were started in december 2009, but after finishing the first sock I just dropped them and left no note (!!) about how I made heel ant toe. I just know that I didnì't use my standard methods, so I guess reproducing the first will not be just that easy.

Not much done

Vest I haven't been posting because I actually don't have much to say. After finisching the Cat's Paw Socks I have kept knitting on the vest (I am now a bit further compared to the pic here: I have started some decreases to shape the waist, all done on the back to keep the vest from hiding too much of my bum's shapes! ^_^) and started a new pair of socks. dome a bit of spinning and... Well, set up a couple of knitting courses that are supposed to start at the end of February: one is a beginner and one is for circular knitting. Both will be held in Milano, check out the courses page in the top bar for more informations (being updated next).
Yup, more socks As for the socks, what can beat good old, plain stockinette with a k1, p1 rib border for relaxation (and who cares if they are a bit boring!). One sock got done in a week, the other has been started yesterday and I am already at the end of the quite deep rib border. Reliable Dutch heel and French toe complete them. Comfort knitting at its best!

Hey, I've got two socks!

Cat paw socks done

Finished my Kitty Paw Socks. Happy with them. Pity that one has ribbing that tends to slouch, probably the (old and partially recycled) yarn is a bit damaged. Well, who cares?! I still needed new socks. By the way, I have two partial pairs that I badly need to resuscitate. wish me good luck with the instructions I sketched on a paper...

Calico

DSCN2333 Several years back I happened to find this yarn, Mondial Decatì. It is a cheapo 100% wool sock yarn which is now only produced as solid, but at the time it was also produced in a few interesting variegated, including the green one I used for my Child's First Socks. This second colorway was bought just because it reminded me of a calico cat's fur and I always pictured myself wearing calico socks with small Cat's Paws on them.
Sock done Point is, I started knitting them a few years back and never go to finish the first sock. It was about the time I discovered my gynecological problems and the association with these socks plus the disastrous pill I had to take too away all fancy about this yarn.
I exhumed the yarn a couple of weeks back and I am now speed knitting it (well, with as much speed as my multiple projects allow me...) with small cat's paws and ribs and all of that stuff. And I am very satisfied with the way they are turning out, although I am now unable to make them into a pattern due to the fact that the yarn seems to have been discontinued, at least in the variegated version. Look! I even learned to graft properly!
